MMSA Pete Magee Scholarship

  • $500 to assist with travel for graduate student or postdoc attending the MBL Molecular Mycology Course (MOMY)
  • Selected based on need by MOMY selection committee

MMSA Postdoctoral Travel Awards

In Honor of LaJean Chaffin or Michael Rinaldi
  • Call for applications 2x/year
  • Summer (fall meetings) and winter (spring meetings)
  • Selection process via merit
  • $500 Award given as reimbursement post-meeting

MMSA Travel Awardees

The fall/winter MMSA travel award recipients have been named! The selection process involved trainees submitting an application based on mycology-centered scientific meetings being held between November ‘22 and February ‘23. Abstracts were ranked by merit together with a short letter of support by  PI. The MMSA Leadership Council reviewed the applications. Two travel awards were being sponsored by IMMY for graduate students and one postdoctoral travel award was sponsored by Jose Lopez-Ribot in honor of LaJean Chaffin. We are happy to announce the following winners.

IMMY sponsored graduate student travel awards

Minna Ding, University of Minnesota Medical School, laboratory of Kirsten Nielsen, to attend the 11th International Conference on Cryptococcus and Cryptococcosis in Kampala, Uganda, in January 2023.

Marnus du Plooy, Duke University School of Medicine, laboratory of Andrew Alspaugh, to attend the 11th International Conference on Cryptococcus and Cryptococcosis in Kampala, Uganda, in January 2023.

LaJean Chaffin postdoctoral travel award

Hanna Brown, MGH/Harvard Medical School, laboratory of Jay Vyas, to attend the Gordon Research Conference: Immunology of Fungal Infections, in Galveston TX, in January 2023.
